In 2012, we joined City Gardens CSA (Community Supported Agriculture).

We've gardened for years, but bought into the CSA to learn new, fun things to grow.  Patty went to the farm for the first pick-up.  She enjoyed meeting Farmer Marty.

May 1: First haul:

  • 1 bunch Sorrell - sour raw; doesn't cook well - still sour and texture is mushy.
  • 2 bok choi heads
  • 1 cabbage head - traditional kimchee kind.  It's brining with an onion and will be kimchee in
  • several shoots of garlic thinnings - can't get these at the grocery store.  Looking forward to using them.
  • rosemary trimmings -- no need for these b/c we have a productive bush already.
  • mixed greens
  • rhubarb
  • parsley
  • mustard greens - I've unsuccessfully tried to grow from seed.  Now we can see if it's worth taking a another swing.
  • arugula -- a garden staple, especially good early season.
